The conservancy spent over $28,000 weeding Cordry & Sweetwater lakes and it seems to me the weeds are worse than ever on Cordry. It's been almost a month since they weeded and it doesn't look like any of them are dying. What do you think? Are there more weeds or less weeds than last year? What about Sweetwater lake? Is it better or worse? Thanks!

I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt here, but yes - it still looks pretty dense. I don't remember in previous years it totally disappearing, but it seemed to thin it out more. Color's changed though, hasn't it?

Honestly can't tell anything was done around our dock or shore line. It was very obvious in the past year.

Weeds worse than ever in Cordry.

Did they put in weed killer or weed growth??? It is bad on Cordry Lake. If the people who has those weed rakes would pull in the weeds as they use them, the live weeds wouldn't be floating in the coves and spreading. It seems that we will have to put in a second batch of chemicals again like last year. Can't get it right the first time. Question?? Why can't we use grass carp?? It only eats plant food and it IS NOT an aggressive fish. They will not reproduce. Just ashing. The DNR has great information on these fish.

Where does one get a week rake? Our weeds (on cove on Sweetwater) don't seem as bad as in past years when they were really awful. We sure could have use a rake back then and it might be a good idea to have one on hand for the future. I like the idea of the carp.

We still have tons of weeds by our dock.... It seems like in the past the weeding was better around our deck and shoreline...

Our cove at Cordry is definitely still full of weeds. Last year was much better as far as the effectiveness is concerned. Another round as in years past would be suitable.

It looks about the same as last year. There are more weeds than I would prefer to see or swim with. We live on sweetwater.

It looks to me as the weed problem is worse. Probably one of the more dense growths we've seen since being on the lake. We've tried everything from attempting to maintain the growth with our own weed rake to hiring a contractor to remove the weeds. I think we (the conservancy) needs to explore alternatives as the growth continues to expand year after year.

I don't know about anyone else, but this is the worse in the 15 years that I have been on Cordry lake. We can't even swim in front of our dock and all around the score line at least 5 feet out and they are now breaking the surface.

Is there anything that we can put in the water to stop the weeds?

Please Help!!!

the weeds in front of our property are horrible. it is definitely no better than last year and last year was really bad. the weeds really ruin a weekend of fun! looks like another year of weekly raking and trying to convince the kids that they still can enjoy the lake

The weeds on cordy have not been seriously impacted in my opinion by the 28k spent on the weed control program.

If the CSCD spent 28k, there needs to be some accountability!

Did the CSCD apply the chemicals per the vendors specifications? If they did, get the vendor out to the lakes and have them explain why we still have weed issues and have them fix the problem at their expense.

If the CSCD didn't apply the chemicals correctly, hold the person accountable at the CSCD for spending the money and not getting the results. Good intentions don't solve problems they just create additional issues.

If the CSCD is going to implement a weed control program and spend the lot owners dollars, make it successful or don't do it.

The weeds do not seem to be affected by the treatment like in years past. It was bad last year and still bad this year. Hopefully they can try again. Thanks.

The weeds this year seem worse than the past several years. The growth around my dock is so bad the kids dont want to get in the water. I think another treatment is needed, maybe by someone else than our existing provider.

Yet another case of the CSCD pissing away our money.
I hope the weeds don't get tangled in the props of the new Lake Patrol Speedboats when they are in a high speed pursuit; going after someone who did a doughnut.

Agree with the above (good one). However, as devils advocate, there are beginning to be more and more city folk tending to their lake home's lawns as if they have to have them look like their subdivision at the homestead. They have these beautiful landscaped lawns right out of home and garden magazine. Guess how you keep them that green and gorgeous? Chemicals. That has a lot to do with why the weeds are getting out of control. Fertilizers that help green the place up also green up the bottom of the lake when they wash in after a rain. I'd rather see the "natural look" on our lawns than have the lakes screwed up. Also, it would save us all money on weeding chemicals.

I was hopeful we were trying another weeding option that would be more successful. From what I have seen to this point, I dont see any measureable advantage over the last several years.

I would like to see a detailed weeding report placed out on the website so there is an understanding of the program and what you are trying to accomplish.

I have to agree that I do not see any improvement in the weed situation on Sweetwater. It actually apprears this year is worse. Is it possible to have our provider re-treat at no cost or a reduced cost due to the fact these is no improvement thus far? Maybe we need to consider another vendor in the future. Also, I will add that maybe as a full time resident here I should start attending meetings and get more involved since I am putting in my "two cents".
