 Angling at Cordry Sweetwater

Giant Perch! May 06 CordryGreg Gants wife Arlyne catches a big 1

As you can see fishing is great at Cordry Sweetwater for the young and old. There are several different species of fish in the lake's including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, redear, bluegill, crappie, catfish, northern pike, walleye and perch. The Anglers club works with the ecology commission and the CSCD Board on a yearly stocking program, this helps to ensure good fishing for many years to come.

 Future Anglers

The Anglers Club holds a Kids Fishing tournament every year and as you can see it is a huge hit with the kids. Every body that participates in the tournaments recieves a door prize along with the winners in each of the catagories. After the tournament the Anglers Club cooks hotdogs and serve's chips, cookies and drinks to all that attend including Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa.

FISHING REPORT AS OF 5-25-09 Minimize

Water Temp. as of 6-6-09 is 74.4 degrees. The Bluegill fishing is still pretty good in some spots if you can find them. Most of the gills have left the nest. However some reports of gills being caught off the points in around 7-8 feet of water. Crappie fish is about average right now still catching numbers in 10-13 feet of water using jigs, and live bait. The bass fishing right now is rather slow in this writers opinion. At the last fishing tournament the weigh-in was really low. Not sure if the weeding has anything to do with it. Your best bet is to try and find some green weeds in deeper water with a jig, worm or lizard. Early morning top water with a zara spook, or pop-R are a good bet to. For those who like to enjoy the night fishing this might just be the time to start, never know. Again if you have any information please contact me so I may share any info.
